I’m Burton, a physicist / photographer / international traveler / video gamer / newsletter editor / political agitator / music lover. I currently live in Saint-Genis-Pouilly, France, and I currently work at the European Laboratory for Nuclear Research (CERN). In all my life, three things give me the most satisfaction: getting a scientific result never seen before, sharing music with a friend, and taking a photograph that perfectly captures a moment.
I first dabbled in photography while on vacation in the South, using disposable film cameras to mostly disappointing results; nevertheless, the experience was a personal revelation. I started taking pictures of my friends and my cat, who proved to be an enduring model, and it wasn’t long before I was hopelessly hooked on the hobby. My passion for photography led me to a Nikon FM10 SLR, with which I honed my skills and eyes; then to a Canon Digital Rebel XT, which opened up possibilities unique to the digital medium; and finally to a Canon EOS 40D, and the consolidation of ten years of experience into a photographic vision and style I can proudly call my own.
Photography is more than just a hobby, it’s a way of life; my camera, an extension of my hand. When I’m taking photos, I see the world with new eyes. Hopefully this website will show you what I mean.
